Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Akdeniz University Hospital provides a dedicated team of faculty members, residents, nurses, and other health professionals that are ready to treat critically ill and injured adults and children to provide an extraordinary level of knowledge, skill and compassion to every patient we serve. 

The Department of Emergency Medicine was created in 1997. It has grown in size from three to 10 faculty members who have responsibility for approximately 93,000 adult patients and 40,000 children visits annually. 

The Emergency Department is prepared and equipped to provide comprehensive and efficient emergency care to patients to treat critical and acute illnesses and injuries 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Emergency Department also provides Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma care to the Antalya Region. We receive and accommodate helicopter landings. A 24-hour transport ambulance service is also available.

The adult department contains 40 beds, consisting of 2 well-equipped resuscitation and 13 critical care beds for monitoring acutely ill patients, while the adjacent pediatric emergency department contains 15 beds with a 1-bed resuscitation room.

The Adult Emergency Department also consists of ambulatory patient care area, including a minor injury care room, separate rooms for infection isolation, ophthalmology, ENT, obstetric and gynecology, and psychiatric evaluations.

No appointment is necessary and patient triage is performed by specially trained nursing staff. 

Ancillary services such as laboratory and radiology are also standing by 24 hours a day to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients. All past and current laboratory results, discharge reports and radiographs, including X-ray, CT and MRI images are immediately available in the ED via a digitalized imaging and software system.
