Akdeniz University Department of Dermatology and Venereology has a long tradition of supporting scientific research. Our department is currently one of the leaders in basic and clinical research in dermatologic science in Turkey. The teaching areas, outpatient and inpatient services of the Department of Dermatology and Research Laboratories of the Medical Faculty are all combined in the modern campus of the Akdeniz University Hospital. We currently have 6 faculty members, 1 specialist and 7 dermatology residents. We describe our mission providing excellence in research, teaching and patient care. 
Akdeniz University Department of Dermatology and Venerology is deeply rooted in research. Our research interests span a wide range of efforts, ranging from clinical to molecular trials. Outstanding research facilities are available in the Akdeniz University Medical School complex to provide training mainly in molecular biology and genetics. 
We also aim to provide training that will allow the resident to achieve a high degree of competence in both clinical dermatology and basic science at the end of their five-year residency program. The general weekly teaching schedule includes clinicopathologic conferences, seminars, journal club and didactic lectures. Residents are also encouraged to attend the bimonthly meetings of the Mediterranean Regional Association of Dermatology and Veneorology.
The Department of Dermatology provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient services for the diagnosis and management of patients with dermatologic problems. Our team handle for both common and rare problems of skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. Our high skilled physicians provide care in medical and surgical dermatology, including dermatopathology and micrographic surgery.
