Radiology Department has been established as a part of the Akdeniz University Hospital in 1981. It has moved to its present 3-floor modern building in 1997. 
The department has a wide spectrum of imaging equipment including 2 MR, 2 CT, 2 angiography, 1 digital mammography, 12 Doppler US units, 1 fluoroscopy and several digital X-ray machines, all connected by a PACS and integrated to the electronic patient record system.
The Radiology Department also has an intense theoretical and practical educational program, both for radiology residents, medical students and radio technologists.
The department is one of the best among University Hospitals in Turkey with 14 academic staff and 18 residents. Each day approximately 750 patients have imaging studies (120 MR patients, 130 CT patients, 300 US patients, 40 mammography patients, 150 X-ray patients). 
Besides, the Interventional Radiology section serves 20 patients per day, on average. The interventions cover all kinds of biopsies, drainages, cyst treatments, tumor ablations, venous ablations, diagnostic and therapeutic vascular interventions such as stenting, aneurysm embolisation, tumor radioembolisation and venous catheter insertions.
To summarise, the Radiology Department of Akdeniz University Hospital, has been serving as a modern imaging site with state of the art equipments and academic staff, for more than 30 years. Interventional Radiology, Neuroradiology, Musculoskeletal, Breast, Abdomen and Chest Imaging are all covered by experienced professors.
Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, the department continues to keep pace with advances in modern medicine in its bid to efficiently serve the diagnostic and therapeutic needs of Akdeniz Univeristy Hospital patients. It is one of the largest radiology department in Turkey fully equipped with advanced and modern imaging equipment that  performs over 500,000 radiological procedures annually.
